November/December Newsletter

Welcome to Sanskrit Studies
The holiday season can be stressful that’s why at Sanskrit Studies we have chosen our focus this month: How to maintain a healthy mind, body and spirit connection through awareness of our constitution.

In his article "Ayurveda: A Brief Introduction and Guide", Dr. Lad says that Ayurveda places great emphasis on prevention and encourages the maintenance of health through close attention to balance in one’s life, right thinking, diet, lifestyle and the use of herbs. Knowledge of Ayurveda enables one to understand how to create this balance of body, mind, and consciousness according to one’s own individual constitution and how to make lifestyle changes to bring about and maintain this balance. [read more]

Our Katrina Fundraiser Update
Thanks to Guruji’s grace, Jivamukti Yoga and everyone’s amazing efforts during Guruji’s Maha-Samadhi Benefit program on Sept 21st at Jivamukti Yoga Center. We raised almost $10,000 total for the Habitat for the Humanity & the Humane Society of Louisiana.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone for the kind and generous support you have offered to the Katrina hurricane survivors.

In September Sanskrit Studies went to Jivamukti Yoga in Toronto, Canada to lead a Sanskrit Alphabet Level 2.

It was wonderful to return and work with everyone in Toronto in the Sanskrit level 2 series. Jivamukti Toronto is a heartfelt center offering many amazing programs that enhance and support one's practice of Yoga.

In late September Sanskrit Studies went to Samadhi Yoga Center in Denver, Colorado to lead an Intro to Sanskrit.

It was a lovely experience teaching at Samadhi Yoga Center. The space is decorated so ornately with swathes of colorful cloth hanging in formation from the ceiling in a spiral-like swirl that feels as if one is inside a giant Buddhist prayer wheel. It was exquisite.

I met many sincere and curious Sanskrit students, many beautiful people.

Keep practicing — Stay engaged…and have a beautiful happy holiday season.

With Respect,

FALL IN LOVE Retreat

An Autumn Retreat celebrating Anusara Yoga and Sound Vibration
with Amy Ippoliti and Manorama at Ananda Ashram, Monroe, NY

Nov 3rd, 6th, 2005 from Thursday to Sunday!

Join us for this dynamic extended weekend retreat this fall season at scenic Ananda Ashram, a spiritual retreat and educational center, nestled in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, just one hour from New York City.

Drawing from Manorama's vast background in Sanskrit, Meditation and Yoga philosophy, and Amy's extensive studies in Anusara Yoga, Pranayama, and Rajanaka Tantra, we will weave both sound and movement to deepen our understanding of Yoga, and to open the quiet light within the heart. This will be Manorama and Amy's 5th retreat teaching together, and the experiences just keep getting better and better!

The fall offers us the chance to reflect back on the past year, to "harvest" the abundance of our own efforts, to take stock on our lives, and vision for the future.  Each day we will share in quiet morning Meditation, Pranayama, and chanting of Sacred sounds. We will weave readings from yogic texts, chant sacred Sanskrit mantras and practice vigorous Anusara asana classes together to send the soul soaring.
When we experience the silent space within the heart, our own radiant self is revealed. Treat yourself to this transformative and reflective weekend.

Investment: $475
Begins 7pm on Thursday night, and ends 1:30pm on Sunday afternoon.

Beginners welcome.
