Cultivate the Inner Warrior
by Manorama

We are all warriors on some level. We have no choice, we must fight! The question is do we want to fight an inner battle or an outer battle? Life's challenges present themselves every moment. They exist for one aim ... to help us transform and grow. If we cultivate awareness we are able to engage these outer struggles as transformative points that draw us into our stable core.

Extraordinary beings seek to know who they are. They aim their arrow on this target and with this intention tantamount in their consciousness they realize the beauty and grace that exists within. They are aware that all outer battles are reflections of Self seeking to realize itself.

What is the aim of an inner warrior:
To know oneself.

How to cultivate inner strength:
Practice five days a week – each day

1. Practice Yoga for 20 to 30 mins
During this time, vision your life expanding your awareness on all levels:
body, mind and spirit

2. Breath Awareness
Move into breath awareness
Spend 5 mins each day focusing on your breath
inhale for a count of 4 -
then hold for a count of 4 -
exhale for a count of 8
then hold for a count of 4
practice this exercise 10 x's

3. Mantra
Each day practice engaging sound in a sacred manner
chant your select mantra or use this one
9 x's chant this mantra to Lord Shiva, the great transforming power:
Om Namah Shivaya - Om Namah Shivaya
Reverence to tranquility and expanding light.

4. Cultivate silence within
After chanting and moving with intention sit silently for 10 mins
watch the thought waves - watch your inner movie.
Here you are practicing deep listening - be attentive - be like the witness.

5. Journal Grace Moments
Note in your journal special moments that have happened to you during the day or week. Note the experiences that were filled with grace and love.

The inner warrior is not dependent on the outer world to determine his/her state of balance and harmony. The inner warrior listens to his/her own heart and practices stillness. The inner warrior knows that this life with its difficulties is like a school that acts as a learning ground to help bring about transformation until we feel the vast wholeness that we are.
